BABYLON PLANT
Babylon Plant, 2006, videocollage with sound
projection on plexiglass or wall, variable dimensions 2:50 min. loop.
The current phase of evolution in nature and society is represented here by a Babylon plant, full of life. The structure of this organism consists of recordings of people’s real movements and activity in our highly interconnected world. The video painting represents the pulsing of the organic and inorganic, from the unexpected perspective of an emerging organism. Here is a visual and conceptual transformation of the difference between the natural and the artificial, physis and techne, an exploration of the possibilities of new symbiosis. The digital mandala invites the viewer to contemplate the circle of life and death, the creation and the emergence of new forms of life in the technological age.
